The is led by managers Joseph Chi, Jed Fogdall, David Plecha, and Joseph Kolerich and Bhanu Singh joined two years later. The cohort have been with Dimensional for at least a decade.
Chi and Fogdall oversee Dimensional’s global portfolio management team, Plecha is global head of fixed income, and Kolerich is a senior fixed-income portfolio manager. In Europe, Nathan Lacaze is the lead portfolio manager who looks after the day-to-day management, and he also helps design and implement new strategies.
“The process is less dependent on individual managers, and more focused on the software technology,” said Savage.
At the Ninety One fund, Mark Breedon is the undisputed leader and has been with the firm for about 18 years.
He is co-head of Investec’s 4Factor equity team, has almost 40 years of investment experience, including over 20 years managing global-equity portfolios. Breedon took over this strategy in June 2004, having arrived from Alliance Capital in early 2003.
“Breedon is highly experienced and has generated consistently strong returns for the strategy,” said Liu.
James Hand, who had been co-head of 4Factor equities alongside Breedon for over a decade, retired in 2017, was replaced by Rhynhardt Roodt, whileGreg Kuhnert, head of the Asian franchise, was made the third co-head of the team in April 2019. The managers are supported by a team of 30 investment analysts and quantitative specialists, according to Liu.
