The FSA Spy market buzz – 11 April 2025
Lazard actively looks at Next Gen; Goldman Sachs loves active in small places; Janus Henderson is reassuring; Private equity’s overflowing war chest; Jevons Paradox; Hamlet’s wisdom and much more.
Helen Zhu, who is also the Blackrock’s head of China equities, has managed the China fund since July 2014. She joined the firm the same year and previously spent eight years at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong as a sell-side strategist.
Although she has 18 years of investment experience, Zhu only began her portfolio management career with this fund, according to Share.
Zhu is supported by eight analysts with an average of seven years of investment management experience.
Bin Shi has been managing UBS AM’s China Opportunity Fund since 2010 and first joined the firm in 2006. He has 24 years of investment experience and is supported by six analysts with an average of nine years of investment management experience.
Share prefers the UBS team to the Blackrock team.
“Both have sizable teams, but we are more confident in Shi given that he has much more experience and has built a long-term track record.” Share said.
“We actually like Zhu, she has also shown great knowledge in the market, but her portfolio management career is a lot shorter.”
