The AB fund has “a team approach to management, so it doesn’t matter much if occasionally there is a change in the individuals in charge,” he said.
The fund managers, John Taylor, Scott DiMaggio and Nicholas Sanders, all manage other AB fixed income portfolios across the rates and credit spectrum, and receive “integrated support from a range of fundamental, credit and quantitative research teams.”
These include specialised groups focussed on global and sovereign macroeconomics and politics, corporate credit and asset backed-securities, as well as a quantitative research team that produces model forecasts and scenarios.
The Fidelity fund’s lead manager, Rick Patel, has twenty years’ experience running fixed income portfolios, Ng said. He is backed up by two deputy mangers, Ario Emami Nejad and Rosie McMellin, who both took on their new responsibilities within the last year.
“We have no concerns about the management team’s recent hires, and have confidence in Patel and his solid track record,” said Ng.
