About the event

The country’s young and fast-growing population was continuing to explore avenues to diversify asset allocation, both across asset classes as well as offshore.

Yet they were facing ongoing volatility and uncertainty in a shifting and unpredictable macro, market and geopolitical environment, coupled with a slower global economic growth forecast for 2023 and tight liquidity conditions. Plus, the recent crisis in the banking sector is the latest stark reminder of the challenges in trying to secure reliable and consistent returns, to protect portfolios and prepare them for the future.

Against this backdrop, the timely event will explored the strategies, processes and capabilities required to invest effectively – both across public and private markets.

Key reasons to attend the event included:

  • Focused presentations from leading global investment managers
  • Insights from our panel on evolving approaches to asset allocation and portfolio strategy
  • Engaging and interactive conversations with your peers
  • Opportunities to network, to deepen relationships with existing contacts and develop new ones

12:05pmPresentation 1: Uncovering income across the global bond universe
Fixed income markets are offering better value than we’ve seen in years, even as volatility and uncertainty remain elevated. Mr. Naveen Gulati, PIMCO’s credit product strategist, discusses strategies for capturing diverse and high-quality sources of income across global bond markets, and where PIMCO sees the most compelling opportunities.
Naveen Gulati, senior vice president, credit strategist, PIMCO
12:25pmPresentation 2: The case for growth – what if?
The era of growth investing is over. Or is it? Investors shouldn’t reach for yesterday’s answers to today’s challenges.
What if a business can easily pass on costs to consumers? As the cost of capital rises, what if the company is self-financing? Demand will weaken during a recession. But what if there are alternative ways to grow in the absence of an expanding economy?
Great companies are made during the toughest of times. Investors need to look beyond the headlines, take advantage of short-term volatility and embrace the opportunities created by deep technological change.
Jennifer Leong, director, Baillie Gifford
12:40pmPlated lunch will be served
1:00pmPresentation 3: Global REITs ready to rebound
As the global economic environment softens, REITs have severely overcorrected compared to private real estate and resulted in significant multi-year growth opportunities. Additionally, tightening credit exacerbated by recent banking turmoil will continue to pressure supply, making property types with defensive demand characteristics and strong fundamentals even more compelling. Join PGIM Investments’ session to learn how REITs can fit into your investment strategy.
Sashi Nambiar, managing director, head of southeast Asia, PGIM Investments
