Dimensional Fund Advisors is launching a global equity, emerging markets equity and global fixed income fund under Singapore’s Central Provident Fund Investment Scheme (CPFIS).

The investment firm is known for its systematic active funds based on factor investing, with $739bn in assets under management.

The firm said three strategies: its Global Core Equity Fund, Emerging Markets Large Cap Equity Fund and Global Core Fixed Income Fund will be initially available to ordinary account holders through private wealth planners.

It describes its funds as low cost, low turnover, owning hundreds or thousands of securities, and using a flexible process that continuously and systematically targets higher expected returns.

A spokesperson from the firm told FSA that although access to Dimensional’s strategies is available in Hong Kong via professional wealth managers’ discretionary portfolios, it plans to broaden its distribution in the region.

Commenting on the launch of the strategies, Dimensional’s Joel Teasdel, head of wealth management group, Asia ex-Japan, said: “Singapore’s private wealth management industry is developing fast and promises to transform the financial security of many families.”

“Adding Dimensional’s funds to the CPF Investment Scheme is a game changer for people who want flexible and cost-effective access to world equity and bond markets.”

Joel Kim, chief executive officer, Asia ex-Japan, and head of international fixed income at Dimensional, said: “We’ve been working with investors in Singapore for more than 10 years, and we are proud that so many more people will now have access to Dimensional Investing.”
