Barings has appointed John Park as head of Korea and sole representative director of Baring Asset Management Korea, effective 1 January.
Park (pictured) is currently serving as co-representative director of Barings Korea alongside Ike Bae, who is retiring next month after 12 years with the firm.
“We are truly thankful for Ike’s contribution to the firm and his commitment to our clients. He has played an instrumental role in strengthening our investment platform and laying the strong foundation for future growth,” said Duncan Robertson, head of Asia Pacific.
“We are also delighted to welcome John to his new role. John has extensive experience developing and managing onshore investment products. His leadership skills and significant investment experience are extremely well placed to drive the next phase of our business in Korea.”
Park has been with Barings Korea (nee SEI Asset Korea) since 2000 and was appointed chief investment officer in 2008.
Meanwhile, Hong Kim and Sam Kim have also been appointed co-heads of sales for Barings Korea. They both managed the institutional business for Korea most recently.
Barings noted that its assets under management in Korea had surpassed W15trn ($11.4bn) this year.
