Sidney Wang is based in Hong Kong and reports to Peter Tung, regional head, private banking, Greater China & North Asia.
He was appointed managing director, market head, Greater China, on 15 December 2023, according to a Standard Chartered Bank spokesperson.
Wang (main picture) has over two decades’ banking experience spanning commercial banking, credit and risk management, and strategy, of which 15 years were in private banking and wealth management.
Joining from HSBC, Wang was an international manager, working in the UK and Europe, Middle East, North and South America, and Greater China during his tenure.
He has a track record in successfully leading business growth and transformation, according to the spokesperson.
Notably, Wang led the launch of the onshore China private banking business for HSBC, and was instrumental in delivering an international coverage platform for Asia ultra-high net-worth and family office clients.
