JPMAM Australia appointed new CEO

Rachel Farrell will take on JP Morgan Asset Management’s newly-created role as CEO and country head of global investment management in Australia.

She is currently the firm’s Asia-Pacific ex-Japan head of sovereign and institutional clients based in Hong Kong, a role she has held since 2014. Farrell will maintain her position until a successor is appointed in due course, the firm said in a statement.

JPMAM started operating in Australia in 2010, serving wholesale clients and institutional investors.

She is expected to relocate to Australia early next year, and will oversee all of JPMAM’s operations, as well as assume direct responsibility for both JPMAM’s funds and institutional businesses in the country.

The firm said it sees “significant market opportunity for all investment businesses in the Australian market” and the country is “an important strategic location for the investment management business”.

“Australia is amongst the world’s largest and fastest growing savings pools and represents a significant opportunity for JPMAM,” Farrell said in the statement.

Farrell joined JPMAM in 2011, and previously worked at Citi Capital Advisors within Citigroup.
