Franklin Templeton appoints new head of private banks and family offices in Asia

Franklin Templeton has hired a former BNP Paribas and JP Morgan private banker to expand its private banking and family office network in Asia.

The US-headquartered asset manager Franklin Templeton has named Gaurav Bathija (pictured) as head of private banks and family offices for Asia, according to a statement from the firm.

In the newly created role based in Singapore, Bathija is tasked with growing the firm’s private banking and family office network across Asia.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, he was managing director of BNP Paribas Wealth Management, with a focus on family offices in southeast Asia. Prior to that, he held roles at JP Morgan Private Bank and Citi Private Bank.

He will report to Christian Bucaro, head of wealth for Asia at Franklin Templeton.

Commenting on the appointment, Bucaro said: “Asia’s rising prosperity is reshaping the global investment landscape, and high-net-worth investors in the region are increasingly looking for more complex, diversified, and global investment solutions.”

“Gaurav’s extensive industry experience and wide network of relationships, combined with Franklin Templeton’s diverse suite of public and private market investment capabilities, will put us in a stronger position to deliver more bespoke investment solutions and become the partner of choice for private banks and ultra-high-net-worth channels in Asia.”
