HSBC names head of IWPB in Taiwan

HSBC has appointed Kevin Hu as head of international wealth and premier banking (IWPB) Taiwan, effective 3 November 2025. In this role, Hu will lead the execution of IWPB’s business strategy to establish HSBC as the leading international wealth manager in Taiwan, according to a statement by the bank.

Hu joins HSBC from Cathay United Bank where he was senior executive vice president since 2022. Prior to this, he spent 26 years at Citibank Taiwan, most recently as retail banking head covering wealth management, insurance and mortgage products.

Adam Chen, CEO and head of Banking, HSBC Taiwan, said: “[Hu] has a proven track record of transforming a transactional banking business into a relationship-driven, client-centric wealth management business.”

Kai Zhang, head of IWPB, Asia, added: “Taiwan’s IWPB business achieved record performance in the first half of 2025, and Taiwan plays an important role in achieving our goal to become the world’s leading international wealth manager, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.”
