Vontobel launches EM debt fund

The Vontobel Fund – Emerging Markets Debt Core fund is managed by Wouter Van Overfelt and Dario Scheurer.

Vontobel has expanded its fixed-income offering with the launch of the Vontobel Fund – Emerging Markets Debt Core.

This launch emphasises Vontobel’s commitment to expanding its $10bn emerging markets fixed-income business and to making its expertise available to investors, according to a statement by the asset manager.

The new fund builds on Vontobel’s established sovereign emerging market debt expertise and complements the firm’s existing range with a more benchmark-aligned approach by reducing off-benchmark exposures and targeting a lower tracking error.

“With the Emerging Markets Debt Core fund, we are responding to institutional demand for an active but more benchmark-aligned strategy while preserving the strengths of our established approach,” said Wouter Van Overfelt, head of emerging markets bonds..

“The fund offers a transparent, disciplined way to access sovereign emerging market debt with a clear focus on consistency and risk control.”

The fund is domiciled in Luxembourg and is managed by Van Overfelt and Dario Scheurer. Its benchmark is the JP Morgan EMBI Global Diversified Index.
