Barclays appoints Private Bank head for Asia

GMO has appointed Glenn Tan to head its institutional client engagement in Asia ex Japan.

Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo LLC (GMO) has hired Glenn Tan to lead its institutional business in Asia, the firm said in a statement.
Tan will be responsible for leading the US-headquartered asset manager’s institutional client engagement in Asia, excluding Japan.
He joins the firm from PineBridge, where he was head of institutional sales, Southeast Asia. Prior to that he was institutional business development director at Amova Asset Management.
Reporting to Zane Bernstein, head of client relations for Asia-Pacific at GMO, Tan will be tasked with business growth in the institutional segment of the market across the region.
“Glenn’s deep expertise in the industry and his proven track record in building client relationships – including significant success in new product segments – makes him a valuable addition to our team,” said Bernstein.
“We have seen strong growth and success in the institutional channel in recent years, including building a significant business in Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, and welcoming our first clients from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.”

Tan holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from University of Warwick, and a Bachelor in Business Management and Accountancy from Singapore Management University.
