Columbia Threadneedle’s Jeanmaire to join Carmignac

The European equity manager brings more than 20 years of experience to the team.

Frederic Jeanmaire, former portfolio manager at Columbia Threadneedle, is set to join Carmignac’s London team as of 3 August 2026.

In his new role, Jeanmaire will co-manage the Carmignac Portfolio Grande Europe and FP Carmignac European Leaders funds alongside current manager Mark Denham, and the Carmignac Portfolio Patrimoine Europe strategy alongside Jacques Hirsch.

His appointment comes as the firm prepares to launch a new European equity fund later this year, the team said.

He has been involved in European Equity investing for more than two decades, having started his career as an analyst at Bank of America Merril Lynch before moving on to Columbia Threadneedle for over 15 years.

While on the team, he managed a range of Columbia Threadneedle’s European funds, including the CT Pan European Focus fund since 2014, as well as the CT European and CT European Select funds.

Under his tenure, the CT Pan European Focus fund was up 253.6%, versus an IA Europe including UK sector average of 158.4%, according to data from FE fundinfo. Over the past three and 10 years, it was a top-quartile performer in this peer group.

Over his career, he has delivered a 242.2% total return for his investors, compared with a peer group composite of 163.3%, according to FE fundinfo data.

Jeanmaire said: “I see an obvious fit between Carmignac’s investment approach and my own, with a shared emphasis on active management, rigorous analysis and a passion for identifying the next major sources of growth.”

Edouard Carmignac, CIO at the firm, added: “Frederic’s strong track record, high-conviction approach to stock picking and focus on client outcomes make him an excellent fit.”
