Sovereign wealth funds re-think diversification and portfolio resilience: Study

UBS Global Wealth Management (UBS GWM) has named new business leaders across Asia Pacific, whose appointments will be effective from 1 July.
In Taiwan, Damien Hsiao will assume the role of regional GWM head of Taiwan, overseeing both domestic and international businesses. Sherry Lin and Christine Lai will be appointed as co-heads GWM Taiwan domestic, “reflecting their strong contributions to building a resilient domestic franchise”, according to a UBS GWM statement.
Private wealth continues to be a growth priority for the firm in Apac, driven by rising wealth creation and evolving client needs.
Peter Yang will be appointed head of GWM Private Wealth Singapore. He has over two decades of experience, including his most recent role as MTH and deputy BSH at GWM Singapore (Greater China). In his new role, Yang will spearhead the firm’s strategy to capture the private wealth market, leveraging advanced digital capabilities and AI to unlock additional growth opportunities.
Complementing the above changes, Conrad Huber will assume the role of BSH of GWM Philippines, with Kenny Ng, as deputy BSH of GWM Philippines. This will be in addition to Huber’s leadership responsibilities across GWM Indonesia, Japan International and the firm’s next generation and global connectivity growth initiatives.
Andrew Bird will take on the role of head of GWM Australia, expanding his remit to include head of GWM Australia international alongside his current responsibilities as head of GWM Australia domestic. In this capacity, he will lead the business with a fully integrated, strategic view across Australia.
Vineet Mehta will be appointed deputy BSH for GWM APAC India international. He will have a functional reporting line to Michael Baechli, head GWM NRI and global NRI coordinator.
“[These] appointments underscore the depth of talent across UBS and demonstrate our strong commitment to cultivating the next generation of leaders. This model will also enhance the alignment of our domestic and international businesses and drive greater client connectivity,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, Henry Su and Dominique Boer will be moving on from the firm to explore new opportunities.
