M&G hires head of risk in Apac

Yasotha Balakrishnan joins M&G Investments from Analog Capital as head of risk for Apac.

M&G Investments (M&G) today announced the appointment of Yasotha Balakrishnan as head of risk, Asia Pacific. She joins M&G today and will be based in Singapore, reporting to Marius Botha, chief risk officer for M&G Investments.

Balakrishnan (pictured) has more than 15 years of asset management experience in risk management, governance and compliance roles, with a proven track record spanning new product launches, market expansion and strategic initiatives across complex, multi-jurisdictional environments, according to the UK asset manager.

She joins from Analog Capital, where she was head of risk and compliance, having previously held a range of risk and compliance roles at Macquarie Group.

Balakrishnan’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior hires supporting M&G’s long-term growth strategy in Asia Pacific, including Luke Chang as general manager and head of intermediary distribution, Taiwan, Cameron Sinclair as head of institutional distribution, Australia, and Ruth Poh as head of compliance, Asia Pacific.

Amy Cho, head of Asia Pacific, M&G Investments, said: “Asia Pacific presents significant opportunities for M&G as we deepen relationships with clients and continue to build our presence across key markets. Yasotha’s regional knowledge and significant leadership experience will contribute to our continued growth as we deliver for clients across Asia Pacific.”

Marius Botha, chief risk officer, M&G Investments, added: “Yasotha brings deep experience of risk management across Asia Pacific and has worked closely with investment businesses through periods of growth and transformation. I am pleased to welcome her to M&G, as effective risk oversight is essential to supporting strategic growth across complex markets and operating environments.”

M&G Investments is part of M&G plc, a savings and investment business which was formed in 2017 through the merger of Prudential plc’s UK and Europe savings and insurance operation and M&G, its wholly owned international investment manager.
