HSBC GPB makes senior hires across SEA and international markets

The latest hires at HSBC GPB build on several other recent senior appointments in the region.

HSBC Global Private Banking (HSBC GPB) has announced a series of senior appointments to deepen its coverage across Southeast Asia (SEA), Australia, and international markets, according to a statement by the bank.

Following the appointment of Abhishek Mehrotra as market head, SEA international and Hammad Hashmi as market head, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia last year, HSBC has continued to recruit leadership talent to support the evolving needs of high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients.

HSBC GPB’s SEA business has been scaling rapidly in recent years, supported by rising demand for advisory-led wealth solutions and a growing pipeline of internationally minded clients.

The most recent senior appointments include Joanne Ng, who joins as desk head for the Singapore team, who brings over 22 years of experience in wealth management. She joins HSBC from OCBC Premier Private Client, where she delivered personalised banking solutions to HNW clients. Based in Singapore, Ng will lead a team of relationship managers serving HNW clients and report to Hashmi.

Tim Morse will join HSBC GPB in August 2025 as senior business development manager, based in Australia. An industry veteran with prior leadership roles at Citi, J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank, he will focus on deepening collaboration between HSBC’s onshore franchises and offshore private banking teams.

Tom Kinnear has already joined as relationship manager covering Australia and International markets, reporting to Kapil Khanna (see below). He has extensive experience in global markets and institutional client coverage.

Tommy Leung (main picture), head of HSBC Global Private Banking, South Asia commented: “We’re continuing to build momentum across Southeast Asia by investing in top talent and deepening our cross-border capabilities. These appointments reflect our ambition to be the private bank of choice for internationally minded clients across Asia.”
