Goldman Sachs Asset Management has hired James Peagam to deepen the firm’s client relationships and scale its team across Asia Pacific.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) has hired James Peagam to co-lead its client solutions group in Asia Pacific, FSA has learned.
Peagam is joining the firm as partner and will work closely with Ronald Lee, head of GS private wealth management Apac and Kenro Tsutsumi, head of GSAM Japan, according to an internal memo seen by FSA.
Based in Hong Kong, Peagam’s new role will be focused on deepening relationships with clients across asset classes and scaling the team in the region, a spokesperson from Goldman Sachs confirmed.
He succeeds Mike Siegel, who will continue his New York-based role as global head of the insurance asset management and liquidity solutions businesses as he transitions away from Peagam’s regional responsibilities in Asia at the end of 2026.
Peagam joins GSAM from J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM), where he served on the operating committee and was responsible for global insurance solutions and the Asia Pacific institutional business.
Prior to that, he worked at BlackRock in the financial institutions group for EMEA and before that, he worked at ABN AMRO Bank.
Earlier in his career, Peagam held various field engineering roles and was involved in infrastructure projects in South Africa, West Africa, and the United Kingdom. He has a BSc in Geomatic Engineering and an MBA in Finance from the University of Cape Town.
