HSBC Private Bank bolsters Singapore and India leadership teams

The private banking arm of HSBC has made four new appointments to its Singapore and India desks.

HSBC Private Bank has made a series of appointments to strengthen its leadership teams in Singapore and the Middle East.

In Singapore, Harjeet Singh has joined as senior desk head for Global India in Singapore, reporting to Gautam Anand, head of Global India.

Prior to joining HSBC, Singh spent more than nine years at Bank of Singapore, most recently as managing director & market head leading the global South Asia business.

Based in Singapore, he will focus on growing the bank’s India business in the region and further strengthening its capabilities in a key strategic client segment.

The bank also announced the hire of Jay See as desk head, offshore China market in Singapore.

See joins HSBC with 18 years of private banking experience serving Chinese clients in Singapore, most recently at Credit Suisse/UBS where he was a China coverage specialist.

See will lead the offshore China market desk in Singapore, strengthening connectivity across Greater China and Southeast Asia while further enhancing the bank’s China franchise.

Elsewhere, Lay Hong Tan joins the bank as desk head, Singapore market. She was previously market team head at UBS Singapore, with extensive experience advising Greater China clients, particularly those from Taiwan.

HSBC said she will lead a Singapore domestic coverage team, focusing on Singapore UHNW and HNW families as well as Mandarin-speaking clients in the region.

In the Middle East, Vivek Pandohi has been appointed to lead global India in the region, reporting to Gautam Anand, head of global India.

He previously held senior leadership roles within HSBC Private Bank in the UAE, most recently leading the UAE global India & expat business.

In this new role, Vivek will lead global India coverage across Middle East markets, with a focus on expanding coverage across the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Tommy Leung, head of private bank, South Asia, HSBC, said: “Entrepreneurs and business-owning families are increasingly international – their businesses may be in one market, their investments in another, and family members across several more.”

“Our job is to make those borders easier for our clients to navigate. That is why how we organise and connect our teams matters. Global India brings together our capabilities across India and key international wealth hubs, allowing our bankers to work more closely across markets around the client.”

“By strengthening leadership in the Middle East and Singapore, alongside our continued investment in Singapore and China coverage, we are building deeper market expertise while making the breadth of HSBC’s international network more accessible to our clients.”
