UBS GWM beefs up family advisory business

UBS Global Wealth Management makes two senior appointments within Asia advisory & sales client services.
Andrew Lo, UBS GWM

UBS GWM has appointed Andrew Lo as head of family advisory & family office solutions for Greater China.  As a seasoned client advisor and executive director in Hong Kong domestic market at UBS, Lo has 19 years of private banking experience, including a decade at Coutts where he was a team head in China market.

Together with Francesca Chan, family advisor director, Lo will work with client advisors and market team heads across greater China.

The wealth manager has also made Amy Lau a director and family advisor. She joined UBS GWM from HSBC Global Private Banking, where she was director of family advisory.  Prior to specialising in family governance, she worked in institutional sales in global markets and as a corporate banker in commercial banking.

Both Lo and Lau will report to Christina Tung, head advisory & sales client services of Greater China at UBS GWM.

Family advisory and solutions for family office are important areas to support UBS GWM business growth, according to the firm.  Family-owned businesses are a driving force in the economy, contributing to employment, growth and prosperity in society, it said.

Family offices are on the rise in Asia as ultra-high net worth families seek to professionalise management of their wealth, often engaging the next generation.  At the same time, these families face difficult issues regarding ownership, engagement, and succession for their family enterprises.
