Saxo Markets, a Singapore-headquartered fintech specialist, has hired Charu Chanana to join a team of market strategists based in Asia Pacific, which includes Jessica Amir in Sydney, and Redmond Wong in Hong Kong.

Based in Singapore, Chanana will focus on delivering thematic based investment strategies for Saxo clients globally, according to a statement by the firm.

Her key focus areas will be macro themes, foreign exchange, commodities and equities across Southeast Asia, Japan, India and the US.

She has a decade of experience in the financial markets, most recently as the lead Asia economist at Continuum Economics, where she covered macroeconomic analysis for emerging Asian countries, especially India and Southeast Asia.

In Sydney, Amir is responsible for providing real-time market updates and data analysis, working closely alongside Saxo’s global sales trading team to deliver Australia-specific market insights.

With 14 years’ experience in financial markets and the media, Amir was most recently with Bell Direct, where she was the senior market analyst and media presenter.

Hong Kong-based Wong has three decades of experience in the industry. He is responsible for communicating Saxo’s global investment strategy, generating Hong Kong and mainland China focused research, and delivering actionable insights across different asset classes and tradable instruments.

The three new recruits join Saxo’s strategist team, led by Saxo Group’s chief economist and chief investment officer, Steen Jakobsen, and they also report locally into the CEOs of each market.
