RWC Partners broadens EM offering

RWC Partners has broadened its emerging markets offering into the UCITS space with the unveiling of a long-only equities vehicle.

Set for a November launch, the RWC Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund will seek long investments across the developing market spectrum for both retail and institutional investors.

Managed by the firm’s global emerging markets team, headed by John Malloy and James Johnstone, the fund will target a portfolio of around 50 stocks using an index-agnostic investment strategy.

Malloy explained that the fund will seek to capitalise on current market volatility by looking through market noise in order to locate long-term contrarian plays.

“It’s been a hectic and exciting few months for us,” he said. “We have moved into one of those periods in emerging markets where the world appears to be falling apart. The question is whether it is a long-term problem or something that has to be accepted as part of the journey of allocating to global emerging markets.

“Personally I have been investing in global emerging markets for over 20 years and over that time you learn that these things happen but the key is to focus on the opportunity rather than the noise.”

The fund launch comes six months after Malloy, Johnstone and their 15-strong team made the transition from Everest Capital as RWC set about bolstering its emerging markets capability.

RWC will officially hold the opening of their Singapore office on the 22nd of September. The business has been granted its full MAS license to carry out fund management promotional activity to accreditor investors.
