Natixis appoints Asia-Pacific chief economist

In Hong Kong, the bank has hired Alicia Garcia Herrero, a former chief economist for emerging markets at BBVA Research.

Herrero is based in the bank’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, and will lead the economic research for Asia Pacific while working with global economic research teams.

She has 20 years of experience across commercial banks, central banks and international organisations. Previously, Herrero worked in various roles at Bank for International Settlements, Bank of Spain, the European Central Bank, Banco Santander and the International Monetary Fund.

“Her appointment reflects Natixis’ commitment to providing cutting-edge economic research on Asian economies and bringing our global research expertise to our clients in Asia Pacific,” said François Riahi, chief executive for Asia-Pacific.

Herrero replaces Luca Silipo, who was with the bank from January 2008 until May this year.

She reports to Christophe Ricetti who heads the global markets research in Paris and to Serge Ekue, head of global markets in Asia Pacific.
