Bank J Safra Sarasin has appointed Angie Ma as managing director and vice chair for client advisory, according to a statement from the bank.

Based in Hong Kong, Ma will report to Enid Yip, the bank’s CEO, the statement said, but did not elaborate on her responsibilities.

Ma has at least 20 years of experience in private banking, predominantly focused on the Hong Kong and China markets. Before J Safra Sarasin, she had been managing director and market leader for China at Credit Suisse since 2014. Before that, she spent eight years at UBS in Hong Kong, where she led a team as managing director and China south country team head from 2006-2014.

“We will continue to expand with highly regarded bankers as we enhance our coverage in the region,” Yip said in the statement.

In September last year, the firm hired Mary Lee from Deutsche Bank to join its ultra-high-net-worth team as Singapore-based managing director for client advisory.

It also named Vinay Gandhi as its new CEO for its Singapore branch at the beginning of 2018, replacing Benedkit Maissen, who is now market head for Indonesia at HSBC Private Banking. At the time, J Safra Sarasin said it also added 25 relationship managers for the UHNW Asia division.
