M&G Investments: Hendry to step down by Q4 2015

M&G Investments has confirmed that Andrew Hendry, the firm's managing director of Asia, will be stepping down from his position by the end of this year.

The firm told Fund Selector Asia that Hendry has completed the first phase of its Asian expansion.

“His departure follows the successful completion of the first phase of our expansion in the region. Under Andrew’s leadership, M&G has opened offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, hired teams in both locations and manages over $4.5bn of assets for clients,” M&G said.

Commenting on its next phase of expansion, a M&G official said that the firm is “considering a number of options to cater for its growing business in Asia”.

Hendry said: “Establishing M&G’s business in Asia has been a highly enjoyable challenge. Now that we have a strong operating and management platform in place, it is an opportune time to seek a fresh challenge.”

India-born Hendry, who has an MBA from INSEAD and graduated from the University of St. Andrews in the UK, joined M&G Investments in March 2011, where he is based in Singapore. Prior to joining M&G Investments, Hendry advised asset managers, private banks and hedge funds on pan-regional expansion and asset gathering.

Before this he worked for ten years at The Capital Group Companies – during which he served in various segments, including private equity, institutional client relations and global distribution relationships.
