NIKKO AM MAKES PERSONNEL CHANGES

Nikko Asset Management has named Tony Glover as its global head of consultant relations, according to a statement from the firm.

The position is responsible for coordinating efforts across all of Nikko AM’s international sales teams to engage with global and local consultants to maintain and build relationships, ensuring the firm’s strategies are monitored and rated by consultants and helping consultants communicate about Nikko AM to their clients.

Glover’s new position is an addition to his global head of intermediaries and head of international intermediary sales department role, which he assumed when he joined the firm in March this year, the firm said.

He remains in that position and will continue to be based in Tokyo, with all roles reporting to Stefanie Drews, senior corporate managing director and global head of international sales and strategy and product and solutions, as well as global head of marketing and sales support.

Besides Glover, Nikko AM made other personnel changes, according to a separate statement.

HSBC SIGNS UP HK “HEAVENLY KING” AS BRAND AMBASSADOR

HSBC has signed up Cantopop star Aaron Kwok as its new brand ambassador for HSBC Jade in Hong Kong, according to a statement from the firm. Kwok is one of Hong Kong’s four “Heavenly Kings”, which include Cantopop stars Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau and Leon Lai.

HSBC Jade, which was launched around two years ago, serves the high net worth segment. Jade clients in Hong Kong grew by around 8% this year until the end of the third quarter, the firm said.

“As a long-standing HSBC customer, I’m proud to become an ambassador for Jade. HSBC has been there for me when I needed them, whether it be financial planning for my family, international banking services or personalised support for my car collecting hobby,” Kwok said in the statement.

HSBC has been developing its Jade services this year with the introduction of new services, including wealth portfolio lending solutions and the wealth portfolio intelligence service. The portfolio lending service offers additional liquidity to clients based on their assets with HSBC, while the portfolio intelligence service helps clients gain more in-depth understanding of their portfolios by employing similar tools that institutional investors use to analyse risk exposure.

In Hong Kong, HSBC manages assets of around $249bn on behalf of HNW Jade and Private Banking clients, according to the statement. Jade clients have assets of at least $1m, while private banking clients have assets of at least $5m, according to a spokeswoman of the bank.

EFG NAMES NEW HEAD OF CONTINENTAL EUROPE AND MIDDLE EAST

EFT International has named Patrick Ramsey as its new head of Continental Europe and Middle East and a member of the global business committee, effective January next year.

He will replace Adrian Kyriazi, who has decided to step down by the end of this year, but will continue to support the firm as a senior advisor in the future.

In his new role, Ramsey will report directly to Giorgio Pradelli, EFG’s CEO.

Before EFT, Ramsey was head of wealth management and member of the executive committee at CA Indosuez in Switzerland, where he worked since 2013 until earlier this year. From 2010 to 2013, Ramsey was the general manager of Barclays Bank Suisse and country manager for Switzerland at Barclays.
