Eastspring names new SG CEO, makes exec changes

Eastspring Investments has named Ooi Boon Peng as its new CEO for Singapore, replacing Phil Stockwell, who was previously both Singapore CEO and chief operating officer, according to a statement from the firm.

Stockwell will now focus solely on his COO role, the firm said.

Besides his new CEO role, Ooi is also appointed as regional fixed income officer, where he is responsible for advising the firm’s fixed income team.

Ooi first joined the firm in July 2007 and was previously the chief investment officer for fixed income, according to the firm’s website.

As a result of Peng’s appointment, Low Guan Yi was promoted as the new fixed income CIO, according to the statement.

Low first joined in 2007 as a portfolio manager and is currently the lead portfolio manager for Pan-Asian local currency bond portfolios, as well as single-country Philippines and Thai bond portfolios, according to the firm’s website. The statement did not say whether there will be any management changes in the portfolios that currently manages.

Besides Ooi and Low, the firm has also named Xavier Meyer as the new head of distribution. He assumes the role in addition to leading the firm’s product and partnerships team.

Meyer replaces Michele Bang, who previously held both the head of distribution and deputy CEO roles. Bang will now solely focus on her deputy CEO role and will lead a number of digital initiatives across the firm, according to the statement.
