Today at the awards luncheon at Club Lusitano in Hong Kong, the Platinum and Gold winners accepted their respective fund awards.
JP Morgan representatives made the trip to the stage four times. The firm won one Platinum and two Gold awards and also received an FE Newcomer Fund Award. Fidelity was also a multiple award winner, taking two Platinum and one Gold.
Double category winners included First State, Mirae Asset and Schroders.
The award winners were selected through both quantitative and qualitative methods.
FE Advisory used its Crown Rating methodology to assesses funds based on alpha, volatility and consistency and create a shortlist for 15 asset classes.
The shortlist was given to an independent panel of professionals from Asia’s fund selector community in Hong Kong. Each judge selected the funds they thought would outperform in the next 12 months.
Their aggregated choices determined the Platinum and Gold winners.

FE Newcomer Fund Awards
This year, the FSA Awards included two promising funds with a relatively short track record, one active, one passive. The Newcomer Fund Award winners were not selected by judges, but chosen by FE Advisory.
For active funds, the product needed to demonstrate it had potential to become an FSA Award candidate in the future. For passive fund contenders, FE considered the tracking error since launch, fees and cost competitiveness. For both active and passive, the product idea had to be linked to investment trends in 2016.
