Alternatives manager expands operations in Apac

Waterfall Asset Management has opened its first regional office, choosing Hong Kong for its base.

US-headquartered Waterfall Asset Management has announced that Alistair Ho, the firm’s managing director and head of Apac, will lead the Hong Kong office.

“We are thrilled to continue our global growth by establishing a physical presence in Asia,” said co-founders and managing partners Jack Ross and Tom Capasse.

“There is a tremendous opportunity for private debt offerings and opportunistic financing across the region, particularly with its growing middle market and regulatory changes,” they added.

Hong Kong is the firm’s fourth office globally, following its headquarters in New York, and operations in London and Dublin.

Waterfall Asset Management focuses on providing private debt products for non-bank financial institutions, middle market corporates and real estate-related borrowers, said the firm.

Ho recently joined from Natixis Investment Managers. He has over 18 years of experience in the region’s credit markets, holding senior positions for Ostrum Asset Management, Mizuho Securities Asia, Credit Suisse and Citigroup.

Ho will report to Patrick Lo, partner and head of international at Waterfall Asset Management.

The firm was founded in 2005, and manages $10.65bn in assets as of end of April.
